Using your images
Make something of your own
Each collection comes with its own usage terms. They decide what you may make with the images, so read them before you start a project, and especially before selling anything you make.
The terms for your collection
The usage terms are shown on the collection's Etsy listing and included with your files. The terms supplied with your purchase apply to that purchase. This page is general guidance and does not add to or change them.
Keep the terms with your files so they are at hand when you start a new project.
Choosing files for a project
Every listing and collection page states the file format, the pixel dimensions and the background type. A transparent background lets you place an image over your own colours or paper; a solid background keeps the artwork as a complete picture.
Print size and pixels
How large an image prints well depends on its pixel dimensions. Divide the pixels by the print resolution you want. For sharp prints, 300 pixels per inch is a common guide:
- 3000 px ÷ 300 = 10 inches (25.4 cm)
- 4500 px ÷ 300 = 15 inches (38.1 cm)
Changing a file's DPI setting does not add detail. Only the number of pixels does.
Questions about a use
If a use is not clearly covered by the terms for your collection, ask before you go ahead.
